Equipment
Performance:
This repeat user of Air Enterprises' equipment needed a new roof
mounted unit for a building renovation project. Air Enterprises
had provided many air handling units to this university client in
the past. Specifically, desired features were provided: all aluminum
construction to avoid weather induced corrosion, "U" shaped
with integral service vestibule contained within the "U"
shape; sloped roofing and a continuous perimeter gutter system to
control water run-off; rubber roofing membrane to eliminate roof
leaks; and a containment housing system guaranteed to provide 1/2%
or less air leakage of system design static pressures. In addition,
unit lines of sight needed to match building architectural lines.
The unit was, therefore, constructed in a trapezoidal shape to accommodate
this requirement.
Unit components consisted of an integral roofcurb,
30%/95%/carbon filtration, centrifugal supply and return air fans
with variable inlet vanes, blow-through chilled water coils with
moisture eliminators and sloped stainless steel drain pans, electronic
humidifier, sound attenuators, energy economizer and air mixing
section, and a full lighting system with fluorescent lights, switches
and GFI receptacles. Start-up, field joining of shipment splits,
and owner training services were also provided.
