Pharmaceutical Facility - Penthouse Unit

Equipment Performance:
This pharmaceutical client needed two new 100% make-up air rooftop units for a critical research lab area. Construction features specific to research lab standards for this client included staggered four row chilled water coils banked in series for easy removability/ cleanability, snow melt intake coils, all sumped/sloped 304 stainless steel floors in all sections, and removable roof hatches for fast fan replacement. These construction features ensured unit longevity and system uptime.

Both factory testing and field testing services provided by Air Enterprises were extensive in order to ensure proper unit operation. Factory testing included casing pressure tests to ensure casing integrity/tightness, fan flow & static pressure, vibration, sound, and electrical integrity. Field testing included verification of the factory testing as previously described plus system balancing and system flow verification.

These rooftop units included complete factory piping within an 11' wide service vestibule which ran the entire 50' length of the units. A 6" chilled water coil pipe, a 4" steam supply line and a 4" hot water pipe entered the unit vestibule. These lines were piped and distributed to the appropriate service to cooling coils, heating coils and humidifiers.

Unit components consisted of outside air shut-off damper and louver, 30%/95% filters, future carbon filters, snow melt coils, preheat coils, parallel Class III centrifugal fans with isolation dampers, TEFC high efficiency motors, vibration monitoring accelerometers, chilled water coils with stainless steel casings, and steam humidification.

Factory provided electrical items include a complete fluorescent lighting system, convenience/duplex outlets, fan disconnects and vestibule electric unit heaters. Air Enterprises also supplied start-up & owner training services to ensure the owner on proper operation and unit maintenance.
